Deep Cleaning

The Ultimate Deep Cleaning Checklist for Your Dubai Home

20 August 20266 min read

A deep clean is the reset every home needs a few times a year, the one that reaches past the day-to-day tidying and clears the build-up in the places you normally rush past. This checklist walks through the whole home, room by room, so nothing gets missed. Work through it yourself, or use it to see exactly what a professional deep clean should cover before you book one.

Before you start

A few minutes of prep makes the whole job faster:

  • Declutter first. Clear surfaces, floors and worktops so you are cleaning the space, not cleaning around the mess.
  • Gather your kit: a degreaser, a bathroom descaler, glass cleaner, microfibre cloths, a scrubbing brush, a vacuum and a mop.
  • Work top to bottom, and back to front. Dust and clean high surfaces first so anything that falls gets picked up when you do the floors last.
  • Open the windows. Good airflow helps everything dry and clears cleaning fumes.

Kitchen

The kitchen holds the most build-up, so give it the most time.

  • Degrease the hob, splashback and extractor hood, and clean the extractor filter.
  • Wipe down all cupboard fronts and handles.
  • Clean appliance exteriors, and inside the microwave.
  • Descale the sink and taps, and clear the drain.
  • Wipe skirting boards, switches and the door.
  • Scrub and mop the floor, including the corners and along the units.

Bathrooms

Humidity in Dubai means limescale and grime build fast here.

  • Descale and disinfect the shower, bath, taps and shower screen.
  • Scrub tiles and grout, and treat any mould spots.
  • Clean and disinfect the toilet, inside and out, including the base and hinges.
  • Polish mirrors, glass and any chrome fittings.
  • Wipe cabinet fronts, switches and the door.
  • Clean extractor vents, and scrub and mop the floor.

Bedrooms and living areas

  • Dust everything, from the tops of wardrobes and shelves down to skirting boards.
  • Wipe switches, handles, door frames and doors.
  • Clean mirrors, glass surfaces and picture frames.
  • Vacuum upholstery, under cushions and behind furniture.
  • Vacuum and mop or clean the floors throughout.

The spots most people miss

This is what separates a deep clean from a regular one:

  • Air-conditioning vents and grilles.
  • Skirting boards and door frames in every room.
  • Light switches, plug sockets and remote controls.
  • Behind and underneath heavy furniture.
  • Interior window glass, sills and tracks.
  • Cobwebs in ceiling corners and light fittings.
  • Inside the oven and behind large appliances, if you have the time.

How often should you deep clean?

For most Dubai homes, every three to four months keeps things on top of the build-up, with regular cleaning in between. Homes with pets, young children or heavy foot traffic often benefit from a deep clean more often. Seasonal points, the New Year reset and the run-up to Ramadan, are the natural times most people book one.

DIY or book a professional?

A full-home deep clean is a big job. Done properly it takes most of a day, longer for a villa, and it is physical work. Doing it yourself saves money and works well if you have the time and the equipment. Bringing in a professional team makes sense when the home is large, when you are short on time, or when you want it done to a consistent standard in a single visit, for a move-in, a handover, or before guests arrive.
